Oh Chris and Madyson… I love them! The day before their October wedding, I got sick. I mean, really really sick. I have not been this ill for at least a few years… it was one of the only weddings this year I was planning on shooting solo, without a second shooter or assistant, and I was so sick… I don’t think that Chris even told Madyson I was when I got in touch with them to set them up with a back-up shooter just in case…
The next day I felt about 60% but that was good enough for me to decide to take off to The Barn at Rush Creek for their wedding. I think we had a good relieved laugh together that I actually made it! I was so so so happy to be there, but my fever was spiking repeatedly over the course of the day and it was raining off and on, so needless to say, it was one of the craziest weddings I have ever shot, because when I went through the images the last few weeks, I didn’t even remember parts of the day and forgot some images I made. I contribute the trippy lighting at the reception to my fever, but I kind of love those images! hah!
Thanks for trusting me Chris and Madyson! I learned a valuable lesson about shooting weddings alone, and have decided it won’t be something I make a habit of. It was so so scary and stressful to think of handing the wedding off at the last minute. I value shooting with Gary so much more now and think the value that offers to clients is just unmatchable, because he is professional and proficient with or without me, and I with or without him.
