Deacon Henry comes from a long line of HD’s and DH’s, as all of the Hess family members have HD or DH for initials.. and now the newest DH is here and we couldn’t be more excited about his arrival! Deacon’s mama Heather is one of the best people I know.. sweet, funny and an amazing mother to already 3 year old Hudson. Denver, the original DH, handles my taxes, so he will always have a special place in my heart. (the last time he was here, he witnessed my daughter’s escapades in potty training and didn’t bat an eye! Love that!) The Hess family are givers and lovers and some of the people I consider it a privilege to know and have in my corner, so when we were deciding how I would be involved in his coming into the world, I was thrilled to be invited to the hospital for a first 48 session to capture some of Deacon’s first hours in the universe.
I arrived in time to catch Heather coming up from recovery from her cesarean section, obviously still in a great deal of pain.. she admits she may have fibbed about her pain so she could get back to the nursery and see her baby again.. That is Heather for you! She got to hold Deacon briefly at the nursery as they transported her to her room for the next few days. After she was in her room, she admits her fib and nicely asks for pain relief, LOL. The nurses even commented on how sweet she was, stating that most mamas are in no smiling mood after coming up from surgery!
Deacon was given his first bath and eventually brought into Heather’s room to get to know his mama better and to have his first meal.. Heather is just like me with her emotions.. just so dang happy she could cry, so she does here and there..
After a while, Heather’s older son, Hudson gets to come join the party and meet his little brother.. He was very well prepared for this and offers his little brother some balloons that he had chosen for him.. and he kisses him right on the face. Heather’s mama heart could just explode.
Thank you for having me Hess family.. congratulations on the birth of another perfect little blessing.
xoxo,
allie
