the birth of Jackson

I had the pleasure of photographing an amazing all natural birth in November.. and while witnessing the awesome power of the mother, I decided she needed to be able to see her strength in person. So I fiddled with my camera, switched over to video and shot some footage of her powering through contractions with such grace and peace. I shot it, I uploaded it with the images… and that was that. I had no idea what to do with it to make it viewable and to seem as powerful as I wanted it to be..

So.. it sat on my hard drive.. for 3 months.

I went to Las Vegas for a photography convention and jumped at the chance to take a workshop on video, 100% because of the footage you will see in this video . The video and photos have found new life and the purpose for me shooting them has been revealed.

I skyped with Angie & Jacob when I showed them this because I wanted to make sure it was as powerful as it seemed to me. And yes, they cried. I ugly cried, again.

We all are deeply touched to have been part of this experience, of bringing Jackson in to the world, and of bearing witness to it. I hope this shows someone out there how beautiful childbirth is and that with proper preparation, it can be a transforming experience for yourself, and those who witness it.

I love you Angie and Jacob, you are incredible!
